A:
- Highlight the data you want to create a graphic representation of (i.e., your chart).

- Click on the
button on your toolbar to start Excel's Chart Wizard.
- You will see an outline around your selected data. Use your mouse to click and drag on the spreadsheet to make the outline of a square. This will be the location of your chart when it is finished.
- The dialog box that appears next asks you to confirm that the range you have selected is really the one you want to chart. Click on Next.

- In the next two dialog boxes you will choose a chart type for your chart. Choose Next to advance to the next screen, Back to return to the previous one.

- In the next dialog box, specify how you want the chart wizard to interpret your data.

- To use the first column(s) for your X axis labels, change the Use First ... Column(s) for Category (X) Axis Labels option accordingly. To use the first row for legend text, select the Use First ... Column(s) for Legend Text option. When finished, choose Next. Note:If you want to use the first column (rather than the first row - i.e., your data series are inversed) for legend text and the first row for X axis labels, check the Data Series in Rows. When finished, choose Next.
- In the last dialog box, you are given the option to name your chart and axis. Choose OK to exit the chart wizard and return to the spreadsheet.

- Your chart has been added to your spreadsheet. You may click and drag the chart to move it. You may also edit it at any later stage without recreating it.
